Convincing vote against animal testing in European Parliament

The The EU’s directly elected legislative body comprised of 705 members. It is involved in policymaking but it does not have the power to propose new legislation. European Parliament is asking the Commission to draw up a plan that ends experiments on animals and to replace them with other, less cruel, scientific techniques. Only four A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a representative in the European Parliament. MEPs voted against the measure. 

Specifically, the Parliament wants to reduce the amount of tests on living animals in phases based on what’s scientifically possible. All the while, the level of protection for human health should not be lowered. To get there, the Parliament believes funding should be made available to develop and introduce other testing methods, while scientists and researchers should be trained to use advanced non-animal models. 

The vote is quite unique. Of the present A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a representative in the European Parliament. MEPs, a total of 667 voted in favour of the motion. Sixteen of them abstained while only four A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a representative in the European Parliament. MEPs voted against. Most abstentions came from the conservative to far-right Identity and Democracy group.
