EU Parliament President: ‘Ukraine is Europe’

The EU’s directly elected legislative body comprised of 705 members. It is involved in policymaking but it does not have the power to propose new legislation. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola visited Kiev on Friday in an effort to show the Parliament’s support for Ukraine. In her speech in front of the Ukrainian Rada, she praised the resistance of Ukraine against the Russian invasion and called for further assistance.

Interrupted by applause from Ukraine’s parliamentarians, Metsola made three promises:
